Jim Cash
Jim Cash (January 17, 1941 – March 25, 2000) was a film writer, noted for writing such 1980s films such as ''Top Gun'' and ''The Secret of My Success''. He was born in Boyne City, Michigan, and later lived in Grand Rapids. He received a B.A. in English from Michigan State University (MSU) in 1970, followed by an M.A. in Television and Radio in 1972; he also taught writing and film history. ==Partnership with Jack Epps, Jr.== As a professor, Cash met a student at Michigan State University, Jack Epps, Jr., who was from the Detroit area, and who would later become his writing partner. They began their writing relationship while at MSU and wrote their first story together in the MSU Union Grill in 1975. Soon afterwards Epps moved to Hollywood. Cash continued to live in East Lansing, Michigan, while Epps lived in Santa Monica, California. They collaborated by computer across country.
